Sainz Secures Strong Qualifying Result at Las Vegas Grand Prix Amidst Competitive Field

Carlos Sainz demonstrated impressive skill during the qualifying session for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, narrowly missing pole position after briefly holding the top spot. Sainz clocked a provisional pole time in Q3, only to be surpassed by Max Verstappen and Lando Norris as they finished their laps in shifting wet conditions.

Sainz expressed confidence in his performance, stating, “It was a very good lap. I thought it was a pole-worthy lap.” His initial time put him in P1 until the final moments of the session. Despite the challenging conditions, he noted the competitive advantage he found on extreme wet tires during earlier qualifying rounds.

“I think we were more competitive on the extreme wet [tire] in Q1 and Q2. I wish it would have stayed ex-wet because that was the tire that gave me the best feeling,” he said. However, he recognized the limitations of his car in dry conditions, estimating a realistic finishing position of around P5 to P8 had the weather been clearer.

With Norris and Verstappen starting from the front row, Sainz acknowledges the intensity of the challenge ahead. “I don’t expect either of the top two to be particularly cautious,” he remarked. “It will be more down to the pace rather than the risk that anyone can afford.”

As he prepares for the race, Sainz’s determination to secure a podium finish remains clear. “For me, it’s more about trying to hold on to that P3 if I can,” he emphasized, aware of the rapid competition from behind. “I’ll be pushing to make it happen.”

This strong performance bodes well for Sainz as he aims to leverage every opportunity in a tightly contested race.
