Sauber Opens New Technology Center Ahead of Audi F1 Entry

Sauber Motorsport has inaugurated a new technology center in Bicester, England, a strategic move aimed at bolstering its engineering talent ahead of its transition into the Audi F1 team in 2026. The facility, located just 15 miles from Silverstone, offers a conducive environment for engineers who prefer to remain in the UK while contributing to the operation based in Hinwil, Switzerland.

Mattia Binotto, head of Audi’s F1 project, emphasized the importance of this center: "The opening of the Sauber Motorsport Technology Centre at Bicester Motion is a significant milestone as we prepare for Audi’s arrival in Formula 1. This facility will allow us to tap into the talent pool in Motorsport Valley and strengthen our technical capabilities."

This initiative parallels Cadillac’s approach with its new F1 team, incorporating facilities at Silverstone alongside operations in the U.S. and a separate power unit division. Sauber’s investment in Bicester is designed to enhance its connectivity with the existing motorsport supply chain, ensuring a streamlined operation.

Bicester Motion CEO Daniel Geoghegan welcomed Sauber, noting the excitement surrounding the transformation as they align with Audi’s vision for sustainability, innovation, and performance in motorsport. "We look forward to seeing their team develop and their transformation on and off the track continue."

This development marks a pivotal step as Sauber gears up for Audi’s participation in Formula 1, signaling a renewed commitment to excellence and competitiveness in the upcoming seasons.
