Pitt and Cruise Reunite at F1 Movie Premiere

Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise made a rare joint appearance at the European premiere of F1: The Movie in London, marking their first public interaction in over two decades. The actors, who share a longstanding friendship and racing enthusiasm, were last seen together in the 1994 film Interview with the Vampire.

Cruise reminisced about their past go-karting escapades, stating, "We’d go and race go-karts all night. Brad’s very good at driving. Believe me, I’ve raced against him." Their mutual passion for motorsport nearly led to a collaboration in the late 2010s under director Joe Kosinski. The project ultimately fell through due to budget constraints, leading to the production of Ford v Ferrari instead.

Pitt’s portrayal of Sonny Hayes, a fictional driver, has drawn comparisons to Cruise. Kosinski noted, “Tom always pushes it to the limit… They both have the natural talent for driving.” Stunt supervisor Graham Kelly emphasized Cruise’s intense driving style, contrasting it with Pitt’s more cautious approach, which he considers safer.

The premiere has reignited discussions about Pitt’s and Cruise’s potential future projects. Pitt has expressed interest in reuniting with Cruise, humorously asserting he won’t be involved in any high-altitude stunts.

Interestingly, both actors share connections with Lewis Hamilton, who co-produced F1: The Movie and has praised Pitt’s driving skills. Hamilton’s admiration for Cruise dates back to a visit on the Edge of Tomorrow set, and he once hoped to appear in Top Gun: Maverick, only to decline due to a conflict with his racing commitments.

The premiere not only showcased the film but also highlighted the enduring ties between cinema and motorsport, underscoring the influence of racing culture on Hollywood.
