Tsunoda Shares Anecdote from F1 Movie Premiere
New York City – Red Bull Racing driver Yuki Tsunoda recounted a lighthearted encounter with actor Brad Pitt during his visit to New York for the premiere of the new Formula 1 film, directed by Joseph Kosinski. Following the Canadian Grand Prix, several F1 drivers attended the event, where Tsunoda mistook Pitt for a fan.
"When I was exiting the hotel, someone shouted ‘Yuki, Yuki’ from behind," Tsunoda explained. "I thought he was just a random fan. Then I turned around, and it was Brad Pitt. He came over and said ‘hi.’ He’s a really fun and nice guy."
Tsunoda expressed confidence that the Japanese audience would embrace the film, noting, "Everyone loves Brad Pitt, right? It’s quite cool because he’s a really nice guy." He described the film as "a mix between reality and a bit of a Hollywood show," distinguishing it from action franchises like Fast and Furious while maintaining an authentic portrayal of F1.
The film, which features Lewis Hamilton as an executive producer, premiered internationally on June 25 and in North America on June 27. Hamilton shared his gratitude for the project, stating on Instagram, "We’ve poured everything we have into this film. I hope you’ll feel that when you watch it."
Overall, this glimpse into Tsunoda’s interaction with Pitt highlights the crossover appeal of Formula 1 and Hollywood, reinforcing the sport’s growing global presence.
