McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown Outlines Ambitious Goals Following F1 Success
In a recent interview with TSN, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown emphasized that the team has "unfinished business" as it aims for broader success across multiple racing series. Under Brown’s leadership since 2018, McLaren secured its first Formula 1 constructors’ championship in 2022, ending a 24-year drought since their last victory in 1998.
Expressing confidence in McLaren’s trajectory, Brown stated, “I feel like we’re on our way," while outlining an ambitious roadmap that includes winning prestigious events such as the Indy 500, the IndyCar championship, Le Mans, and the World Endurance Championship in addition to recurring successes in Formula 1.
Despite recent progress in IndyCar, where McLaren sits second and fifth in the championship standings, Brown acknowledged that they are "not there yet." He praised current driver Alex Palou for a remarkable season, noting, “I’ve never seen in my years of following IndyCar a driver dominate like Alex has." He also mentioned close performances at the Indy 500 and emphasized the team’s investment in new personnel and facilities.
Brown affirmed, “We need to get into our new shop, be able to kind of get our elbows out," indicating an aggressive push to enhance team capabilities.
Shortly after Brown’s remarks, Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward won the NTT IndyCar Series race in Toronto, exhibiting strong performance. Reflecting on his victory, O’Ward said, “I can’t say I saw this one coming today," praising the team’s strategy and car efficiency.
As McLaren Racing continues to build momentum in both Formula 1 and IndyCar, the focus remains on capitalizing on recent successes while striving for comprehensive championship dominance across motorsports.
