The International Motor Sport Association (IMSA) has unveiled the provisional entry list for the upcoming Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, showcasing a total of 35 cars. Notably, this event marks one of the two rounds in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship that will not feature the GTP class, placing the spotlight on 12 LMP2 entries vying for overall victory.

Among the noteworthy participants, JDC-Miller MotorSports will field the No. 79 ORECA 07-Gibson, driven by Gerry Kraut and Scott Andrews. Last year, the duo secured a second-place finish at Road America, and they aim to build on that success at the historic circuit. The No. 79 entry replaces AF Corse, which has withdrawn from the event.

Driver changes have been prevalent this week due to scheduling conflicts with the WEC 6 Hours of São Paulo. United Autosports USA has confirmed Tom Blomqvist will join Daniel Goldburg in the No. 22 car, stepping in for Paul di Resta. Furthermore, Renger van der Zande will replace Sebastien Bourdais at Tower Motorsports, while TDS Racing sees Hunter McElrea return in place of Mikkel Jensen. Crowdstrike Racing by APR will also feature a new face, as Alex Quinn takes over for Malthe Jakobsen.

In a notable local flair, two Canadian Bronze drivers will make their IMSA LMP2 debuts. Phil Fayer will pair with Ben Hanley in United Autosports’ No. 2 car, while Travis Hill, the reigning HSR Prototype Challenge Am champion, will debut in Era Motorsport’s No. 18 car alongside Ryan Dalziel.

The GTD PRO category will witness the return of Marco Mapelli in Pfaff Motorsports’ No. 9 Lamborghini, and Giacomo Altoe is set to resume racing in the No. 81 DragonSpeed Ferrari after a two-race hiatus. Meanwhile, Korthoff Competition Motors has withdrawn from the GTD class following a third-place finish at Watkins Glen, resulting in 13 entries for this event.

Fan favorite Robert Wickens will return in the specially prepared No. 36 DXDT Racing Corvette alongside Alec Udell. The Heart of Racing Team will welcome Roman de Angelis in place of Tom Gamble, who is participating in the WEC. Additional team updates include Gradient Racing reinstating their sprint lineup of Jenson Altzman and Robert Megennis, while Triarsi Competizione’s No. 021 Ferrari is yet to announce its drivers for CTMP.

This event promises an exciting weekend of racing as teams prepare for the challenges of one of Canada’s premier motorsports venues.
