Tom Blomqvist Rejoins United Autosports for Chevrolet Grand Prix

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, ON — Tom Blomqvist, the Acura Meyer Shank Racing driver, will make a one-off return to United Autosports at the Chevrolet Grand Prix next week. He will team with LMP2 Championship leader Daniel Goldburg in the No. 22 ORECA 07-Gibson, replacing Paul di Resta, who is unavailable due to a scheduling conflict with the WEC 6 Hours of São Paulo.

This marks Blomqvist’s first appearance with United Autosports since competing in the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship, where he achieved notable success, including pole positions at Spa-Francorchamps and Bahrain, and a second-place finish at Spa.

“I’m grateful Daniel and the United Autosports team have entrusted me to fill in for Paul,” Blomqvist stated. “We had a successful test recently, and both of us are coming off victories at Watkins Glen, which we want to carry into Mosport.”

Goldburg leads the LMP2 Drivers’ Championship, holding a 94-point advantage over Gar Robinson and Felipe Fraga. Both he and di Resta also top the Michelin Endurance Cup standings. “I asked around for the best driver to fill in, and Tom’s name kept coming up,” Goldburg remarked, expressing confidence in their upcoming performance.

United Autosports CEO Richard Dean added, “It’s great to have Tom back with the team. He’s fast, reliable, and the perfect driver to help extend the No. 22’s championship lead.”

Further driver announcements for the No. 2 ORECA are expected later this week.
