BMW Confirms End of Partnership with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in IMSA’s GTP Class

BMW has announced that Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) will conclude its role as the manufacturer’s service provider in the IMSA Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class at the end of the 2025 season. This decision marks a significant shift for the BMW Team RLL, which has been instrumental in the brand’s motorsports strategy in North America.

The announcement was made during a press event, where BMW Motorsport Director Mike Krack emphasized the company’s focus on future endeavors in IMSA. "As we prepare for a new phase of our motorsport initiative, it’s essential to align our core objectives with our partners," Krack stated.

Since entering the GTP class, RLL has played a vital role in developing BMW’s competitive edge, securing multiple podium finishes and contributing to the brand’s engineering advancements in the series. However, the decision to end the partnership aligns with BMW’s evolving motorsport strategy, aimed at enhancing performance through innovation and agility.

Further details on potential new partnerships or how BMW intends to fill the void left by RLL in the upcoming seasons have yet to be disclosed. The move signals BMW’s commitment to redefining its approach in IMSA, aiming for greater success in a highly competitive environment.

As the motorsport community anticipates the implications of this change, the focus will now shift to how both BMW and RLL will navigate the transition and what it means for their future on the track.
