TF Sport Secures Dual Championships at Portimão Finale
TF Sport concluded its 2025 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) campaign with a significant triumph at the Portimão season finale, clinching both the LMP2 Pro/Am and LMGT3 championships, marking monumental achievements for Corvette and AO Racing.
In LMP2 Pro/Am, the AO by TF partnership secured the title with a crucial runner-up finish by the Spike The Dragon-liveried ORECA, driven by PJ Hyett, Dane Cameron, and Louis Deletraz. Hyett’s performance capped a remarkable run across both the ELMS and IMSA series, highlighted by a victory at Le Mans and wins at Imola and Petit Le Mans.
“It’s a huge commitment, and it can be frustrating when the results don’t come. But once he got that first win, it snowballed,” Cameron stated, praising Hyett’s perseverance.
Co-drivers Deletraz and Cameron also reached personal milestones, with Deletraz claiming his fourth ELMS title in five seasons, and Cameron achieving his goal of winning a European championship after departing from Porsche’s factory program.
Meanwhile, TF Sport’s Corvette initiative marked General Motors’ first ELMS crown and secured an automatic entry for Le Mans 2026. This victory served to validate the Z06 GT3.R’s competitiveness beyond factory teams. The title was clinched in a tense final hour as Charlie Eastwood fended off a late challenge from United Autosports’ McLaren.
“It was super stressful,” Eastwood reflected. “Wayne was right there the whole time. I had to hang on — there was no room for error.”
Team owner Tom Ferrier expressed satisfaction with the dual titles, emphasizing the strength of the partnership with AO Racing and the significance of the Corvette’s success.
“It’s a relief more than anything… The Z06 GT3.R has come on fast, and to take a title this early is huge,” Ferrier noted, hinting at plans for a stronger presence in the WEC and ELMS next year.
With both championships secured, TF Sport is poised for an ambitious 2026 campaign, targeting further successes on the European stage.
