Ford Multimatic Motorsports has confirmed its return to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s GTD PRO category for the 2026 season. This announcement coincides with the forthcoming EVO update for the Mustang GT3, slated for debut next year.
The No. 64 and No. 65 Ford Mustang GT3 entries are concluding the 2025 season after achieving a landmark victory at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, with the No. 65 driven by Christopher Mies, Frédéric Vervisch, and Dennis Olsen securing Ford’s first global win with the model.
Ford’s motorsport program has seen further success with wins in the GT World Challenge America, Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, and ADAC GT Masters. Additionally, Proton Competition has made notable progress in its two-car World Endurance Championship LMGT3 effort during its second season.
As for the 2026 driver lineup, details will be revealed at a later date. Currently, Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Priaulx in the No. 64 Mustang are positioned fourth in the GTD PRO Drivers’ Championship standings, while Mies and Vervisch hold eighth.
“We aim to finish strong in the season’s penultimate race. I believe the track will favor the Mustang GT3 well, so we’ll fight for the victory,” stated Rockenfeller, who finished second at Indianapolis last year alongside teammate Harry Tincknell.
This strategic return positions Ford to further enhance its presence in competitive sports car racing as it prepares for new technical challenges ahead.
