Mathieu Jaminet Confirms Move to Genesis, Ending Decade with Porsche
Mathieu Jaminet has announced his departure from Porsche to join Genesis for the 2026 World Endurance Championship, marking a significant shift in his career. The 31-year-old French driver has been a part of the Porsche family since 2016, progressing from a junior driver to a factory driver involved in the LMDh program.
Jaminet’s last race with Porsche took place at the Bahrain WEC finale on November 8, where he competed with a special helmet commemorating his tenure with the brand. Reflecting on the emotional transition, he told Motorsport.com, “It feels heavy on my heart… It was a heavy decision to take, but it came from my heart.”
Over the last decade, Jaminet has achieved considerable success, including winning the GT Masters title in 2018 with Precote Herberth Motorsport and the IMSA GTD Pro championship in 2022 with Pfaff Motorsport. His recent victory at Long Beach marked a milestone for the new Porsche 963 in the revamped GTP class, contributing to their championship win just weeks before his announcement.
Jaminet’s achievements also include outright victories in the Dubai 24 Hours and Kyalami 9 Hour, along with a class win at the Daytona 24 Hours. Reflecting on his decade with Porsche, he stated, “I can definitely be proud of the journey we’ve done together… To be with a team for 10 years, not many drivers do this these days.”
As he prepares for a new chapter with Genesis, Jaminet expressed hope for the future: “You never know what the future brings in motorsport… Maybe in another life, maybe I’ll be back.”
Jaminet’s shift is poised to impact both his career and the competitive landscape of the World Endurance Championship as he transitions into Genesis’ LMDh program.
