Callum Ilott Joins Wright Motorsports for Full IMSA Campaign
In a significant development for the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, NTT IndyCar Series driver Callum Ilott will join Wright Motorsports as a full-time driver. Ilott, who has previously raced with PREMA in IndyCar, will share the No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R with team owner/driver Adam Adelson. This marks Ilott’s return to sports car racing after a successful stint in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship, where he secured victory at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps driving for Hertz Team JOTA.
Ilott expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership: “I’m thrilled to be joining Wright Motorsports for the full season in GTD alongside my IndyCar season. Having raced with Wright once before, I got a taste of the team’s capabilities and am eager to build on that.”
Wright Motorsports is gearing up for the 2026 season with the new 911 GT3 R Evo after winning the GTD class at the 2022 Rolex 24. For the upcoming Daytona race, the team will feature a strong four-driver lineup, including Tom Sargent and Elliott Skeer, along with Ilott and Adelson.
Adelson, entering his third season in IMSA, remarked, “We’ve been good friends for quite some time and always talked about racing together. I’m glad to see that come to fruition.” He added that the team has been working diligently in the offseason to ensure they maximize the performance of their new car.
Notably, there are no scheduling conflicts between Ilott’s IndyCar commitments and the IMSA series, aside from shared events at the Grand Prix of Long Beach and Detroit Grand Prix.
Wright Motorsports will face tough competition with at least five other teams also debuting the latest 992.2-generation Porsche 911 GT3 R at Daytona, including efforts from Manthey, AO Racing, Mühlner Motorsports, and RS1.
