Dillmann to Return Amid Replacement at Road America

Inter Europol Competition has announced that Tom Dillmann, reigning LMP2 champion of the Le Mans 24 Hours and Twelve Hours of Sebring, is on track for a return to racing in four weeks. Dillmann recently underwent successful surgery for a fractured vertebra sustained during the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

As a precaution, Dillmann will miss the Motul SportsCar Grand Prix at Road America this weekend, where BMW M factory driver Connor De Phillippi will step in as his replacement. De Phillippi, who previously drove the BMW M Hybrid V8 to its first IMSA victory at Watkins Glen, will partner with Bronze driver Jeremy Clarke. De Phillippi has also showcased strong performances in GT racing this year, finishing in the top four at both Daytona and Sebring.

Dillmann is anticipated to return at the European Le Mans Series 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on August 23, ahead of the TireRack.com Battle On The Bricks to be held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on September 21. Dillmann stated via social media, "Successful vertebrae operation last week. I’m already feeling better and my recovery time has been boosted. Should be good to go in a couple of weeks."

This upcoming sequence of events will be crucial for Dillmann as he looks to continue his competitive presence in the LMP2 category following a significant injury.
