Jacobs Abel Joins Era Motorsport for 2026 IMSA Endurance Cup
Era Motorsport has announced the addition of Jacob Abel to their driver lineup for the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s Endurance Cup rounds. Abel, 24, will share driving duties in the team’s No. 18 ORECA 07 LMP2 with Naveen Rao and Ferdinand Habsburg. Former Formula 1 driver Logan Sargeant will also be involved for the season opener, the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Abel, who finished as runner-up in the 2024 Indy NXT championship, has previously gained LMP2 experience with Vector Sport RLR in the Asian Le Mans Series. His background includes a single start in IMSA’s GTD class at Laguna Seca in 2021, where he drove an Acura NSX GT3 Evo.
“I can’t wait to get going in Daytona with the Era Motorsport group,” Abel stated. “It’s been a fun experience learning prototype racing, and I’m excited to take on the challenge of some of the most prestigious endurance races in the world.”
Team owner Kyle Tilley emphasized Abel’s potential, saying, “Jacob’s history in open-wheel racing is going to make him a fantastic final addition to our 2026 lineup… it is a joy to help foster that talent in young drivers.”
This strategic move positions Era Motorsport as a competitive force in the endurance racing domain, capitalizing on Abel’s diverse racing experience and talent.
