Magnus Racing Set for Return at Petit Le Mans

Magnus Racing has announced its entry in the upcoming Motul Petit Le Mans, marking the team’s third appearance this season in the IMSA GTD class. The event is slated for Michel Raceway Road Atlanta.

Team owner and driver John Potter, alongside Spencer Pumpelly, will welcome veteran driver Jan Heylen to the No. 44 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO. This will be Heylen’s debut with Magnus Racing and his first outing in an Aston Martin.

Heylen, who has previously claimed victories in prestigious endurance events such as the Daytona 24 Hours and Sebring 12 Hours, currently leads the Michelin Pilot Challenge Grand Sport (GS) championship standings, eyeing his second series title with two races remaining.

Magnus Racing’s campaign this season has faced challenges. The team suffered a catastrophic engine failure during its last outing at Daytona and encountered accident damage at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen in June, both resulting in early retirements.

“It’s great to return to competition during our limited season,” Potter stated. “Petit Le Mans is well ingrained in our history, and we’re excited to push for another result. Adding Jan Heylen to the team is a great addition; we’ve competed against him for many years, and it will be nice to have him on our side.”

Heylen expressed enthusiasm about joining the team: “I’m really looking forward to joining Magnus Racing and Aston Martin. Competing with the team after many years will be rewarding, and I look forward to getting more time with the Aston Martin.”

A complete entry list for the 28th annual Motul Petit Le Mans will be released in the coming weeks.
