Penalty Alters Standings in GTD PRO Following Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen

The No. 65 Ford Multimatic Motorsports Mustang GT3 has been penalized after failing technical inspection post-race at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen. Drivers Christopher Mies and Frederic Vervisch, who originally claimed third place in the GTD PRO class, have been relegated to 10th in class and 51st overall in the provisional results released today.

As a consequence, the No. 81 DragonSpeed Ferrari 296 GT3, piloted by Albert Costa and Davide Rigon, moves up to third in GTD PRO. The No. 4 Corvette Racing Z06 GT3.R now holds fourth, with the No. 77 AO Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R in fifth.

The penalty stemmed from violations regarding negative camber angles and tire pressures, both exceeding allowed limits for the high-energy Watkins Glen track. Specifically, the camber angles surpassed -4.0° and the tire pressures fell below the minimum threshold of 1.8 bar (26.1 PSI).

In light of the penalty, the GTD PRO championship standings have seen minor adjustments. The No. 3 Corvette Racing Z06 GT3.R, driven by Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims, retains its lead but with a reduced margin of 52 points over AO Racing’s Heinrich and Bachler, down from 62 points. Costa’s performance elevates him to third in the Drivers’ standings, while class winners Dan Harper and Max Hesse drop from third to fifth, now behind the No. 64 Ford of Mike Rockenfeller and Seb Priaulx.

Despite the penalty, Mies and Vervisch remain sixth overall in the standings, now trailing Garcia/Sims by 252 points, a significant increase from 162 points. Additionally, Ford has fallen from second to fourth in the GTD PRO Manufacturers’ standings, now behind Chevrolet, BMW, and Porsche.

All results from the other categories remain unchanged.
