Porsche Penske Motorsport Reveals 2026 IMSA Driver Line-up

Porsche Penske Motorsport has confirmed its driver roster for the 2026 IMSA SportsCar Championship, featuring a blend of experienced talent and emerging stars. Laurens Vanthoor and Kevin Estre will reunite as the primary drivers of the #6 Porsche 963 LMDh, transitioning from the now-defunct World Endurance Championship (WEC) program.

Driver Pairings:

  • #6 Car: Vanthoor and Estre for the full season.
  • #7 Car: Felipe Nasr will be joined by Julien Andlauer, a factory driver from WEC. Laurin Heinrich, who made his LMDh debut at the recent WEC finale in Bahrain, will serve as the third driver in long-distance races.

While the full-season line-up features four drivers, including Matt Campbell in a reduced role after winning the 2025 GTP title, there remains uncertainty regarding the addition of a fourth driver for the upcoming Daytona 24 Hours.

Porsche’s recent exit from the Hypercar category has led to a strategic downsizing of their IMSA efforts, reducing the driver count from eight to four full-timers. Notable absences include Michael Christensen and Nick Tandy, with Tandy recently achieving an unprecedented sextuple crown in endurance racing.

Recent Performance:
In 2025, Porsche Penske showcased dominance by sweeping the IMSA drivers’, teams’, and manufacturers’ championships. Despite a strong showing, the team settled for second place at the Le Mans 24 Hours, finishing behind the #83 Ferrari driven by Robert Kubica, Phil Hanson, and Yifei Ye.

As Porsche shifts focus to its 2026 campaign, the combination of seasoned drivers and new talent promises to keep the brand competitive in the upcoming season.
