Romain Grosjean has officially transitioned away from Lamborghini after a three-year collaboration primarily focused on the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Joining the Italian manufacturer in early 2023, Grosjean drove the Huracan GT3 Evo2 in the GTD Pro class and contributed significantly to the development of the SC63 Hypercar, slated for competition in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA in 2024.
During his tenure, Grosjean recorded solid performances, including a fourth-place finish at the recent Petit Le Mans and a 13th-place finish at the 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours alongside teammates Andrea Caldarelli and Matteo Cairoli. His involvement extended beyond driving, actively aiding in refining Lamborghini’s racing technology.
Lamborghini announced the strategic decision to pause its LMDh program and redirect efforts toward the new Temerario GT3, projected for a 2026 release. This shift follows a brief stint in the WEC, where Lamborghini exited after just one season, largely due to new regulations mandating two-car entries in the Hypercar class.
In a statement, Lamborghini reflected on Grosjean’s impact, stating, “From his first laps in Almeria in 2023 to the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024, the journey has been filled with emotions and milestones… Thank you, Romain, for the passion, talent, and commitment you brought to the track with us. See you on the asphalt!”
Grosjean’s future racing plans remain uncertain. After leaving Formula 1 at the end of 2020, he engaged in a successful four-season stint in IndyCar before pivoting to sports car racing this year.
