Turner Motorsport Celebrates GS Class Victory at Mid-Ohio

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, 2025 – Turner Motorsport secured its 30th Grand Sport (GS) class victory in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge on Sunday, marking a significant milestone for the team. Francis Selldorff, co-driving the No. 95 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 EVO alongside Dillon Machavern, clinched his first career win in the competitive GS category during the O’Reilly Auto Parts 4 Hours of Mid-Ohio.

The victory, which came nearly two years after Turner’s last Michelin Pilot Challenge win, showcased Selldorff’s tenacity against seasoned IMSA veterans. Machavern qualified the car in third position, setting up a robust performance for Selldorff in the latter stages of the race.

Selldorff faced off against three former Michelin Pilot Challenge class champions: Jeff Westphal (CarBahn by Peregrine Racing), Jan Heylen (RS1), and Stevan McAleer (Auto Technic Racing). Despite relentless pressure, particularly from Westphal, who seemed poised to challenge for the lead late in the race, Selldorff remained composed. Westphal’s race ended prematurely with a right rear suspension issue, allowing Selldorff to fend off an aggressive charge from Daniel Morad in the No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT GT4.

Selldorff crossed the finish line just 0.751 seconds ahead of Morad, securing a crucial victory. “The key today was getting the car to the front and mastering the restarts,” Selldorff noted post-race.

Team owner Will Turner praised Selldorff’s continual improvement throughout the season, reinforcing their plan to develop him from within their program. “He’s shown natural talent from day one, and we’ve seen his growth in every race,” said Turner.

Heylen and co-driver Luca Mars took third place, adding to their podium tally this season. Completing the top five were the rebuilt No. 44 Ibiza Farm Motorsports McLaren Artura GT4 and the No. 27 Auto Technic BMW.

Herta Hyundai Dominates TCR Competition

In the Touring Car (TCR) series, Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb Agajanian continued its winning streak, claiming its fourth consecutive victory of the season. Mason Filippi and Harry Gottsacker dominated the race in their No. 98 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, leading 111 of 149 laps. This victory marks the team’s 29th overall in the Michelin Pilot Challenge.

“We executed a clean strategy and managed the race effectively,” said Gottsacker, who emphasized the challenges presented by the Mid-Ohio circuit.

Denis Dupont and Preston Brown finished just shy of another win, securing their third podium of the season in the No. 76 Herta Hyundai. The podium was rounded out by the No. 93 MMG Honda Civic, recovering from an early spin to claim second.

The Michelin Pilot Challenge will resume at Watkins Glen International for round five, the LP Building Solutions 120, scheduled for June 19-21.
