Palou Maintains Dominance Ahead of Sonsio Grand Prix at Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS – Reigning champion Alex Palou, driver of the #10 Chip Ganassi Racing entry, enters the Sonsio Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course as the series leader, showcasing an exceptional start to the 2025 IndyCar season.
Palou’s season commenced with an impressive victory in St. Petersburg, where he overcame a challenging eighth-place starting position. He followed up with a win at The Thermal Club and secured a second-place finish at Long Beach, trailing only Kyle Kirkwood of Andretti Global. His performance reached a pinnacle at Barber Motorsports Park last weekend, where he dominated the race from pole position, finishing ahead after leading 81 of 90 laps, marking his 14th career IndyCar victory.
In a candid reflection on his success, Palou noted, “I know it’s going to end. You know it’s a wave and you don’t know how long it will last.” While acknowledging his impressive form, he stressed the unpredictability of competitive racing: “Other than Barber, we didn’t feel like we were as strong.”
Palou has historically performed well at the Indy road course, having clinched victory from pole last year and from a third-place start in 2023. A win this weekend would make him the first driver since Sébastien Bourdais in 2006 and Dan Wheldon in 2005 to secure four wins in the first five races of an IndyCar season.
As the series prepares for this weekend’s event, fans and competitors alike remain eager to see if Palou can extend his winning streak amidst fierce competition.
