Dale Coyne Racing Announces Engineering Shake-Up Ahead of Final Races

Dale Coyne Racing has announced a pivotal change in its engineering team, parting ways with race engineers Ed Nathman and John Dick. They will be replaced by the returning Michael Cannon and Mike Colliver, with Cannon set to oversee Rinus VeeKay’s car and Colliver working with rookie Jacob Abel.

This decision follows disappointing performances in the 2025 season, highlighted by Abel’s failure to qualify for the Indianapolis 500, marking the second consecutive year the team has not secured a spot in the race with a rookie driver. VeeKay’s recent performance also saw him finish as the slowest car in the field, prompting the team to seek a rejuvenation in engineering leadership.

Dale Coyne expressed gratitude for the contributions of Nathman and Dick in a challenging season, stating, "I appreciate both Ed and John stepping in to get us on track so quickly. I’m excited to welcome back Michael Cannon and Mike Colliver for the remainder of the year."

Both drivers remain optimistic as they look ahead to the 11 remaining races. VeeKay noted, “I’ve known Michael for some time and have a lot of respect for his engineering talent. I’m excited to work with him as we continue to build momentum.”

Colliver, who previously collaborated with Abel, emphasized his confidence in the rookie’s abilities: “I know what this team is capable of, and I’m excited to contribute however I can.”

With the new engineering lineup in place, Dale Coyne Racing aims to regroup and improve its standings as the season progresses.
