Foster Earns First Pole but Finishes 11th at XPEL Grand Prix

Road America, June 2023 – Louis Foster celebrated a significant milestone this weekend, securing his inaugural IndyCar Series pole position on Saturday. However, the British driver faced challenges during Sunday’s XPEL Grand Prix, leading the first three laps before ultimately finishing in 11th place.

Piloting the No. 45 Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, Foster demonstrated promise throughout the race, emerging as the team’s top performer—a continuation of his impressive rookie season. Despite the early lead, he encountered difficulties on the primary Firestone tires, which hindered his performance.

“Starting P1 and finishing P11 isn’t ideal,” Foster acknowledged. “We struggled on the primary tires while others managed three stints on alternates, which really benefitted their races.”

The final laps showcased Foster’s competitive spirit as he gained positions, transforming what could have been a disappointing outcome into a commendable season-best finish of 11th. “I’m not overly disappointed, but I feel like there was more on the table for the team today,” he added.

Foster’s continued development will be key as he navigates the remainder of his debut season in the IndyCar Series.
