Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix: Kirkwood Claims Victory Amid Record Viewership

In a remarkable showing at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood secured a dominant victory, marking a significant moment in IndyCar racing this season. The event garnered substantial attention, as reported by FOX, attracting an average audience of 1,061,000 viewers—an impressive 74.4% increase from the previous year’s viewership of 608,246 during Scott Dixon’s win in 2024, broadcasted on NBC’s USA channel.

The Detroit GP broadcast peaked at 1,201,000 viewers between 2:30 and 2:45 PM, making it the second-most-watched installment of the event since 2021, when Pato O’Ward’s win drew 1,399,000 viewers during a doubleheader.

This surge in viewership reflects a broader trend in IndyCar’s audience growth on FOX. The average across the first seven races of the season stands at 2,173,000 viewers—a 31% increase compared to the 1,662,000 average during the 2024 season, which included broadcasts on both NBC and USA.

As the series progresses, the increasing audience engagement underscores the rising popularity of IndyCar racing, positioning it for further growth in the competitive motorsports landscape.
