PREMA Racing Making Strides in IndyCar Series
PREMA Racing is rapidly establishing itself in the IndyCar Series, marked by significant achievements over the past month. Robert Shwartzman secured pole position at the prestigious Indianapolis 500 and subsequently achieved a career-best 10th-place finish at World Wide Technology Raceway. His teammate, Callum Ilott, showcased the team’s competitiveness by leading late at WWTR and recording a program-best road course qualifying result with a ninth-place start at Road America in the No. 90 Chevy.
Since their inaugural race on March 1, PREMA has demonstrated an impressive ability to adapt and perform, defying the typical progression timeline of new teams in the series.
Ilott reflected on his qualifying performance, stating, “The car was good; we improved a lot since FP2. It was great to be third in our group. The first run in the Fast 12 was not so good; the tires were quite used and just didn’t have a good feeling. On the second run, we put the new tires on, and it felt really good. I think it would have been a Fast Six lap, but unfortunately, everyone backed up in front, and I didn’t get to complete it. On the last lap, the tires were gone a little bit, but we’re P9, which is the first top 10 start for the No. 90 car.”
As PREMA Racing continues to make its mark, expectations are growing for the upcoming races as they demonstrate their potential to compete at top levels in the IndyCar landscape.
