Report: Will Power Claims Victory at BitNile.com Grand Prix of Portland Amid Strong Viewership
Will Power triumphed at the BitNile.com Grand Prix of Portland on Sunday, further solidifying the event’s standing in IndyCar’s current season with an average audience of 708,000 viewers on FOX. This marks the fourth consecutive IndyCar race to achieve viewer averages in the 700,000s, highlighting a consistent trend in audience engagement over recent weeks.
The race, held at Portland International Raceway, experienced an initial broadcasting shift to FOX Sports 1 for the first 31 minutes due to an overrunning LIV golf tournament. During this segment, IndyCar attracted an average of 151,000 viewers. Upon returning to the main FOX network, the race peaked at 945,000 viewers toward its conclusion, contributing to Power’s performance and Alex Palou’s securing of his fourth championship.
The 708,000 viewer average for the FOX segment signifies an impressive 86 percent increase compared to the 380,068 viewers recorded for the 2024 Portland race broadcast on NBC’s USA cable. This growth illustrates the effective reach of FOX in its inaugural season as IndyCar’s exclusive broadcast partner.
Throughout the season, the 15 races aired on FOX have averaged 1,416,000 viewers each, with the Indianapolis 500 generating the highest numbers—7,087,000 viewers—reflecting a 28 percent increase over the first 15 races aired on NBC channels in 2024.
As the season progresses, these statistics indicate not only a successful partnership between IndyCar and FOX but also a growing interest in the series overall.
