iRacing to Launch Standalone IndyCar Game in 2026

In a significant development for motorsports gaming, iRacing Studios has announced plans to release a standalone IndyCar video game, the first dedicated title in over 20 years. Set to launch in the second half of 2026, this highly anticipated product will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam platforms.

Tony Gardner, president of iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations, expressed enthusiasm about fulfilling a long-standing demand from fans. “IndyCar fans have long been clamoring for a standalone title for consoles, and we’re excited to give them what they’re looking for in 2026,” Gardner stated.

The game aims to encapsulate the essence of the NTT IndyCar Series, featuring a robust multilevel career mode, licensed drivers from both the IndyCar Series and Indy NXT by Firestone, and comprehensive online multiplayer capabilities. It will be developed using iRacing Studios’ advanced Orontes engine, ensuring a high-quality gaming experience.

IndyCar’s president, Doug Boles, emphasized the importance of creating a game that reflects the competitive nature of the series. "The most competitive and challenging racing on the planet deserves a dedicated and widely available gaming experience,” he commented.

Team Penske driver Scott McLaughlin will serve as a consultant on the project, stating, "I’m thrilled to be a part of the development process. This game will take the fans’ at-home driving experience to the next level!”

The announcement follows previous unsuccessful attempts to launch an IndyCar game through Motorsports Games. Additionally, iRacing and IndyCar have extended their long-term licensing agreement, assuring continued representation of the series in gaming for years to come.
