PREMA Racing Shines at Java House Grand Prix of Monterey
In a standout performance at the Java House Grand Prix of Monterey, PREMA Racing’s Callum Ilott made a significant leap from 24th to 6th place, achieving the rookie team’s best finish of the IndyCar season at Laguna Seca.
Reflecting on the race, Ilott remarked, “Good comeback… The car was great. Pace was great. I lacked a little bit of peak pace, but the degradation pace at the end was really good.” He emphasized the team’s effective strategy, stating, “I wasn’t there to take many risks… they’ve done a really good job with the pit stops and turning around this car.”
This result underscores PREMA Racing’s recent upward trajectory, with Ilott and teammate Robert Shwartzman now recording three consecutive top-10 finishes. Shwartzman finished 9th in the second Iowa race, while Ilott placed 8th the prior week in Toronto.
Ilott noted the team’s improving consistency: “When everything clicks, we’re really good… we’ve been finding our pace a lot the last couple of races.” As the team navigates the challenges typical of a first-time IndyCar operation, they are steadily demonstrating their potential to compete.
As the season progresses, PREMA Racing’s growing prowess reflects a promising future in the series.
