Indianapolis 500 Practice Session Highlights

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – In a focused two-hour practice session on Monday, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou topped the charts with a lap speed of 226.765 mph in the No. 10 Honda, firmly establishing his pace ahead of the upcoming Indianapolis 500.

Following Palou were notable performances from Meyer Shank Racing’s Helio Castroneves, who clocked in at 226.441 mph in the No. 06 Honda, and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato with a speed of 226.087 mph in the No. 75 Honda. Both teams demonstrated competitive form as they prepare for race conditions.

Dreyer & Reinbold/Cusick Motorsports also showed strong results, placing both Jack Harvey and Ryan Hunter-Reay in the top five with respective speeds of 226.048 mph and 225.969 mph in their Chevrolets.

The session was marred by an incident involving Ed Carpenter Racing’s Christian Rasmussen, who became the sixth driver to crash at the Speedway during recent practices. Rasmussen spun in Turn 2, a repeat of an earlier incident, leading to significant damage to both the front and rear suspension of his No. 21 Chevy. Fortunately, he was cleared to continue and will resume action on Friday.
