Penske Dominates Qualifying at World Wide Technology Raceway

In a display of speed and technical prowess, Will Power captured pole position at World Wide Technology Raceway, marking yet another milestone for Team Penske. Power’s lap in the No. 12 Chevrolet clocked in at a blistering 180.329 mph, solidifying his status as IndyCar’s all-time pole leader with his 71st career pole. This achievement also accounts for Roger Penske’s 700th pole across various racing disciplines.

Power remarked, “I sent it, a lot. It’s been a while since I’ve had a pole. Chevy did a great job. Good power, and hopefully we can execute in the race. Man, it would be awesome to get a win here.”

The session saw a noteworthy performance from Scott McLaughlin, who secured second place in the No. 3 Chevy at 179.783 mph, and Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren, who rounded out the top three with a time of 179.190 mph. The presence of four Chevy entries in the top five underscores the manufacturer’s significant advantage, including David Malukas in fourth (179.079 mph) and Josef Newgarden in fifth (178.910 mph).

McLaughlin praised his team’s collective achievement: “Great run from Will, great run for the team. Obviously you want to be on pole yourself, but when you have two cars smoking a 180 mph top-speed average, pretty awesome. So proud of the team.”

Marcus Armstrong from Meyer Shank Racing led the Honda contingent in sixth place at 178.754 mph and remarked on the competitive nature of the session, emphasizing the technical alliance with Chip Ganassi Racing.

Notably, Alexander Rossi set an early pace among the first drivers with a 177.996 mph in the No. 21 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevy. Other competitive performances included Colton Herta, who placed fourth with a 179.511 mph, and Felix Rosenqvist, who finished seventh in the No. 60 Honda at 178.696 mph.

With an impressive showing, Power and Team Penske aim to convert this momentum into a victory as the race approaches.
