Will Power Joins Andretti Global for 2026 IndyCar Season

Indianapolis, IN – Will Power, a veteran of the IndyCar Series, is set to join Andretti Global in 2026, stepping into the No. 26 Honda alongside teammates Kyle Kirkwood and Marcus Ericsson. His transition follows Andretti’s strategic decision to shift Colton Herta’s focus toward European racing and the new Cadillac Formula 1 program.

Power, a two-time IndyCar champion with a career total of 40 wins—ranking him fourth in all-time victories—brings invaluable experience to a team seeking to enhance its competitive edge. “I’m excited to join Andretti Global. I respect Colton Herta greatly, and I look forward to stepping in and making the No. 26 team proud,” Power stated regarding the change.

Despite being a historically strong contender, Andretti has faced challenges in recent years, struggling to keep pace with rivals Chip Ganassi Racing, Team Penske, and Arrow McLaren. Their last series championship came in 2012, with their most recent Indy 500 victory in 2017, while Power’s last Indy 500 win was in 2018.

Power’s addition arrives at a critical time as the team looks to return to form. In the 2025 season, the No. 26 entry finished seventh in the Drivers’ Championship, while Kirkwood achieved a commendable fourth place. Power’s record from the previous season, including a pole position and victory, positions him to drive the team further up the standings.

His experience will also benefit his younger teammates. Kirkwood, who secured three wins last season, stands to gain immensely from Power’s mentorship. Meanwhile, Ericsson will look to leverage Power’s insights as he aims to improve from his 20th-place finish in the championship last year.

“Will Power is a fierce competitor whose record speaks for itself,” said Jill Gregory, COO of TWG Motorsports. “We couldn’t think of a better driver to fill Colton’s shoes. His strong personality and competitive spirit make him a perfect cultural fit for our team.”

As Power prepares for this new chapter, Andretti Global anticipates that his expertise will be integral to the team’s revival and its ambitions for championship contention.
