Santino Ferrucci to Miss Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto After Warmup Crash
Toronto, ON – Santino Ferrucci, driver for AJ Foyt Racing, will sit out the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto, following a crash during the morning warmup session. The incident occurred when Ferrucci’s No. 14 Chevrolet experienced a snap of oversteer exiting Turn 7, resulting in significant suspension damage after colliding with the left-side wall and subsequently the tire barrier at Turn 8.
Despite being cleared by medical staff after the crash, the team opted to withdraw Ferrucci’s car due to the extensive repairs required. “The damage sustained requires extensive repairs that cannot be completed to the standard of safety and performance necessary to race,” the team stated.
Ferrucci, who was previously contending for a top position in the championship standings, will be classified 27th in the race results, earning only three points. This setback follows a strong season where he and teammate David Malukas were tied for 10th in the standings, with Ferrucci securing four top-five finishes in the past seven races.
This incident marks the second driver to miss a race recently, as Nolan Siegel from Arrow McLaren withdrew from the Iowa doubleheader due to a concussion but returned to action in Toronto.
AJ Foyt Racing aims for a return with Ferrucci next week, reinforcing their commitment to driver safety and performance standards.
