Mick Schumacher Prepares for IndyCar Test with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing
Indianapolis, IN — Mick Schumacher is set to embark on his first test in the IndyCar Series this Monday, collaborating with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL). To prepare, the former Formula 1 driver will engage in a comprehensive onboarding process, which includes familiarization with the Dallara DW12-Honda chassis, interactions with RLL’s engineering team, and sessions on Honda’s driver-in-the-loop simulator.
“This is a significant opportunity for Mick, and we’re committed to ensuring he’s fully prepared,” said RLL president Jay Frye. “Tomorrow, he will perform a seat fit from 8 AM to noon at our shop. Following that, he will spend the afternoon in the simulator from 1 PM to 5 PM, where our engineers will be present to optimize his experience.”
Frye highlighted the team’s concerted effort to facilitate this transition for Schumacher, who has expressed a keen interest in competing in IndyCar. “We’re all excited to have Mick here, and Honda has played a crucial role by expediting maintenance on the simulator to accommodate him.”
Additionally, Louis Foster, RLL’s IndyCar Rookie of the Year, will offer assistance during the test, while Graham Rahal hopes to attend pending family obligations related to his upcoming newborn. “Louis will be there to help Mick navigate everything, and Graham wishes to join but is on baby watch,” Frye noted.
As Schumacher embarks on this pivotal testing phase, the RLL team is eagerly anticipating a strong performance that could signal a promising future in the IndyCar Series.
