Kyffin Simpson to Fly Sunoco Colors in 2026 IndyCar Season

Chip Ganassi Racing has announced that Kyffin Simpson’s No. 8 Honda will feature Sunoco’s distinctive yellow and blue livery throughout the 2026 NTT IndyCar Series season. This marks the first full-season primary partnership for Sunoco in the series in 53 years, a significant return for a brand with deep roots in IndyCar racing.

Sunoco’s involvement in IndyCar dates back to 1968, beginning with Mark Donohue’s No. 12 Sunoco Eagle. The partnership helped Donohue secure his first Indianapolis 500 win in 1972, and the brand’s legacy includes iconic drivers like Tony Kanaan and current IndyCar analyst Townsend Bell.

Now entering his third full season, the 21-year-old Caymanian has experienced a steady progression in his career. After starting in open-wheel racing in 2020, Simpson made his IndyCar debut in 2024, finishing 21st in his rookie season and improving to 17th last year.

In 2025, teammate Alex Palou clinched the championship title—a fourth in five years for the team—while veteran Scott Dixon secured third place in the standings. This context highlights the competitive environment Simpson is part of and the potential for advancement with the support of Sunoco.

“Starting my third year in IndyCar with Sunoco joining the No. 8 Honda is an incredible boost,” stated Simpson. “We’ve made big strides on the track, and this partnership will only help us get better. I’m confident we can take another step forward and have even more success in 2026 and beyond.”

As Simpson looks to build on his momentum, the collaboration with Sunoco signifies not just a branding shift but also a strategic alignment with one of motorsport’s historically significant partners.
