Team Penske Restructures Ahead of Indianapolis 500

In a significant shift amidst recent personnel changes, Team Penske has revamped its strategy team for the upcoming Indianapolis 500. With three race strategists dismissed, the team is poised to leverage its engineering expertise for the iconic race.

Starting with Friday’s Carb Day final practice, Josef Newgarden’s race engineer, Luke Mason, will step into the race strategist role previously held by Tim Cindric, who was recently relieved of his duties. Mason will collaborate with Raul Prados on the No. 2 Chevrolet; notably, Prados led Newgarden to victory last year, stepping in during a critical juncture when both Cindric and Mason faced suspension.

On the No. 3 Chevrolet driven by Scott McLaughlin, Ben Bretzman will assume the strategist position following Kyle Moyer’s departure. Bretzman’s transition allows Malcolm Finch to ascend to the role of race engineer, ensuring continuity in the technical approach.

For Will Power’s No. 12 Chevrolet, Jonathan Diuguid, team principal of Porsche Penske Motorsport, returns to the strategist position after successfully filling in for Cindric last year. This time, he will undertake the role with the No. 12 entry, while David Faustino remains unchanged as Power’s race engineer.

These strategic adjustments reflect Team Penske’s commitment to adapt and maintain performance excellence as they head into this prestigious event. The Indianapolis 500 is set to showcase not only the drivers’ prowess but also the robust engineering capabilities of Team Penske.
