VeeKay Revitalizes Career with Promising Start at Dale Coyne Racing

After a challenging departure from Ed Carpenter Racing, Rinus VeeKay has found renewed hope in the IndyCar series with Dale Coyne Racing (DCR). Following a dismal 2024 season where the No. 18 Honda failed to achieve a single top-10 finish, VeeKay has rejoined the grid and made an immediate impact, securing five top-10 finishes in his first nine races of the 2025 season.

Solidified Position
As of now, VeeKay holds the 14th position in the Drivers’ Championship, only four points shy of 13th place, occupied by his predecessor at Ed Carpenter Racing, Alexander Rossi. His performance has included a notable 10th-place finish at Road America, showcasing a significant improvement over the previous season. The team, which previously finished last in the Entrants’ Championship, now sits 14th in points.

Technical Insights
VeeKay’s ability to extract performance from the DCR car is evident. After successful offseason tests that impressed the team’s leadership, he has demonstrated a competitive edge, particularly in fuel-saving scenarios. “We had some incredible pace on a big fuel save," added VeeKay. His consistency across races hints at the potential for further upward movement in the championship standings.

Looking Ahead
With five races scheduled in July, including the doubleheader at Iowa Speedway and events in Mid-Ohio and Toronto, VeeKay aims to leverage this momentum. “If we keep getting into that top 10, we will get some luck and bring home some hardware,” he stated, emphasizing confidence in his crew and the car’s performance. The potential for a top-four finish, similar to his performance at Barber Motorsports Park, remains a realistic objective.

As VeeKay continues to regain form, the partnership with DCR appears to signal a new chapter in his career, marked by resilience and strong performances amid prior adversity.
