Santino Ferrucci’s Podium Streak Continues in 2025 IndyCar Season
Road America, June 2025—Santino Ferrucci, driving the No. 14 Chevrolet for A.J. Foyt Racing, is enjoying a strong start to the 2025 IndyCar season, having secured his second podium finish in three races with a third-place result at Road America. This performance extends his remarkable streak to four consecutive top-five finishes, solidifying his position as a contender within the series.
Ferrucci celebrated the milestone after the race, playfully catching a beer thrown by a fan, but his ambitions extend beyond festivities. "Oh, I’m still very thirsty to get more," he remarked. "It’s nice to have a string of top-fives… It shows our overall strength and growth."
Season Overview and Challenges
Despite hopes for a strong season following a ninth-place finish in the 2024 standings, Ferrucci encountered a challenging start with an 11th-place finish in Long Beach prior to his recent upswing that began with the Indianapolis 500. "We were just a bit unlucky," he explained, referencing early-season struggles that included mechanical issues and setup misalignment.
Notably, Ferrucci’s recent success has come from less than ideal starting positions—15th, 21st, 19th, and 18th. Given that all 2025 race winners have qualified in the top 10, the question arises whether his qualifying pace might hinder further progress. However, Ferrucci remains unfazed: "I’m not overly focused on it… I find it easier to be consistent over a race distance."
Looking Ahead: Race Strategy and Confidence
With eight races scheduled in the coming months, Ferrucci identifies ovals and select road courses as key opportunities for a breakthrough victory. “I think all the ovals for sure, and then Portland and Laguna Seca," he stated. However, he acknowledges Mid-Ohio and Toronto as potential challenges, emphasizing a focus on consistent learning and improvement.
Ferrucci has his sights set on bringing A.J. Foyt Racing back to Victory Lane, a goal that has eluded the team for 12 years. He expressed a commitment to controlling his own performance while expressing confidence in his engineering team and overall program. "I really want to deliver… I’m very, very comfortable with my engineering lineup," Ferrucci concluded.
As the season progresses, Ferrucci’s blend of tenacity and technical insight may well position him as a critical player in the IndyCar landscape, as he aims to transform his growing momentum into a race win.
