Monster Energy Supercross: St. Louis Highlights and Upcoming Challenges
In an eventful round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, key performances emerged from the 250SX and 450SX classes during the St. Louis race. Notably, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Nate Thrasher showed significant improvement after struggling with a shoulder injury earlier in the season. Thrasher narrowly missed podium contention, finishing fourth—his best result this season—after leading early in the race. His performance is timely as he heads into his home race in Nashville, where expectations for podium finishes are high.
The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna duo of Ryder DiFrancesco and Daxton Bennick demonstrated consistency, finishing fifth and sixth in St. Louis. DiFrancesco maintains a slight edge with two podium finishes compared to Bennick’s single podium this season. Both riders, previously regarded as promising amateurs, are now carving out their identities within the competitive field, making them riders to watch moving forward.
Nick Romano, fulfilling a fill-in role, continues to gain momentum, achieving a ninth-place finish after starting with a challenging qualification. His recent performance showcases his return to form, evidenced by a stint in second during the main event. If he maintains this upward trajectory, he could contend for top-five finishes in the coming races.
Chase Sexton’s season has been characterized by ups and downs. After previously securing a podium in Detroit, Sexton faced difficulties in St. Louis. Despite qualifying second and recovering impressively from a first-turn crash in his heat, he ultimately finished with a DNF due to a crash early in the main event. Sexton acknowledged the mishap, stating, “I knocked the wind out of myself and had to roll around for a few laps… I decided I had to call it early.” He confirmed plans to participate in Nashville, looking to bounce back.
As the series heads to Nashville this weekend, all eyes will be on Thrasher, Sexton, and the competitive field as they strive for excellence in an increasingly demanding championship landscape.
