Team Australia Assembles for 2025 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations
As the countdown begins for the 2025 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN), scheduled for October 3-5 at Indiana’s Ironman Raceway, Team Australia has finalized its roster. Competing to defend their title, the formidable trio of Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, and Kyle Webster returns, aiming to secure Australia’s second consecutive title in this prestigious event.
Team Dynamics and Recent Performance
Under the guidance of team manager Michael Byrne, the established team brings a wealth of experience and recent success. Jett and Hunter Lawrence currently dominate the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, holding the top two spots in the 450cc class. Jett leads with considerable momentum, having achieved an unbeaten season in 2023. Meanwhile, Webster, the reigning champion of the Penrite ProMX Championship, is engaged in a competitive battle for the MX1 title, adding to the trio’s recent form.
Byrne expressed a mix of confidence and caution as the team prepares for the high-pressure environment of the MXoN. “We’re certainly now in uncharted territory as the defending champion, which creates its own set of unique circumstances,” said Byrne. He emphasized the importance of their collective experience, stating, “We’ve already proven we can succeed on the big stage, and I’m confident Team Australia has the work rate, temperament, and speed to do it all again.”
Race Strategy and Class Determination
The MXoN format consists of three classes—Open, MXGP, and MX2—competing with the ability to drop a team’s worst score. Team management will finalize class assignments for each rider closer to the event to optimize their strategy.
Looking Ahead
The final entry list, including fierce competitors from powerhouse nations like France, Italy, and the United States, is expected to be released imminently. With the support of their partners, including MXstore, Team Australia is preparing for a monumental challenge in their quest for back-to-back victories.
Fans can expect an electrifying showdown in October, with Australia aiming to make history as the first nation to defend the Chamberlain Trophy since France in 2014-2015.
