Detroit SX Round: Key Incident Report
In Saturday’s Detroit round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, significant penalties and noteworthy incidents marked the evening.
Major Penalties:
- Vince Friese incurred his second aggressive racing penalty of the season after colliding with Shane McElrath early in the 450SX main event. Friese received a ten-point deduction in the championship standings, three license points, and a financial fine.
- Colt Nichols, Garrett Marchbanks, and Kevin Moranz each faced a five-point penalty and a drop of two positions in the purse due to a violation of the red cross light in section 15 of the track.
Notable Incidents Without Penalties:
- In the 450SX main event, Cooper Webb executed a takeout maneuver on Jorge Prado that went without sanction.
- In the 250SX main event, Devin Simonson experienced a dramatic jump off the triple, landing in two lanes but successfully rejoining the track; thus, he was not penalized.
License Points Context:
Friese now holds seven points on his license. According to the rulebook, accumulating ten points will result in him automatically being assigned the last gate pick for the next race.
