Nashville Supercross Recap: Hammaker and Simonson Shine Despite Challenges
Nashville, TN – In an electrifying night at the Nashville Supercross, the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team faced a mix of triumph and adversity. Ryder Hammaker led the way for his team, showcasing a strong performance from qualifying to the main event.
Hammaker secured the top qualifying spot, exhibiting confidence and speed on the track. He stated, “The day was okay. I qualified P1 and felt really solid, just gelling with the track right away.” He transitioned smoothly into the heat race, executing a decisive pass for the lead en route to a heat victory.
However, the main event proved to be more challenging. After a less-than-ideal start, Hammaker maneuvered through the pack, initially positioning himself within the top five. He recounted, “I worked my way around the inside… made a couple of quick passes to get into second.” Unfortunately, a miscalculation near the tuff blocks led to a fall, pushing him back in the order.
Despite the setback, Hammaker demonstrated resilience, battling back to finish in third place. “Even after the crash, I fought back to third. Overall, I felt good, just had one too many mistakes in the main. We’ll clean it up and come back stronger. I’m just glad to be healthy,” he reflected post-race.
In an impressive showing, newcomer Simonson clinched third place as well, marking a significant achievement in his career. He expressed gratitude on social media, stating, “Unreal…I’ve worked my a$$ off to be in this position. Thank you Brandon @clubmx for giving me this opportunity and believing in me before I believed in myself.”
As the series progresses, both riders are expected to refine their strategies and recover from the Nashville complexities, aiming for podium finishes in upcoming events.
