Fedortsov Clinches SMX Next Championship, Set to Transition to Pro Motocross

Chesterfield, SC — Alex Fedortsov has emerged as a formidable talent in the SMX Next series, clinching the championship at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh after a season marked by significant accomplishments. The 18-year-old rider secured victories in four of five rounds while demonstrating consistent speed, having been the fastest qualifier in each of those events.

Despite facing setbacks, including a flat tire and a late-race tip-over, Fedortsov’s resilience shone through. He took control of the championship race early, passing teammate Jesson Turner in the second corner and maintaining his lead throughout the competition.

"This championship is a testament to my dedication and the support I’ve received from the Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX team," Fedortsov stated in a post-race interview. "I believe I’m ready to step into the pro ranks, starting with the outdoor season."

Team owner Brandon Haas praised Fedortsov’s dual talents in Motocross and Supercross, saying, “Bringing home the SMX Next Championship was icing on the cake. His confidence is palpable, and he’s ready for the challenges ahead.”

Fedortsov, who began racing at age six, has shown a strong commitment to his craft at the ClubMX Training Facility. Under the guidance of expert coaches, he has prepared for this pivotal transition into professional racing, which begins at the outdoor series in Pala, California, on May 24.

With plans to compete across eleven rounds, Fedortsov aims to build on his experience from prior races at Loretta Lynn Amateur National qualifiers.

In a nod to his idol, Dutch motocross champion Jeffrey Herlings, Fedortsov will race this season with number #784—a gesture of respect to his inspiration.

As he moves into the professional circuit, Fedortsov’s immediate goal is to secure enough points for a spot in the upcoming SMX three-round finale later this year.
