Anderson Claims Victory and Points Lead in Intense Season Showdown
In a thrilling night of racing, Jason Anderson secured his first win of the evening and took sole possession of the championship points lead at the latest round of the Supercross series. Anderson, riding for PMG Suzuki, fended off relentless pressure from teammate Joey Savatgy, who finished a close second.
Colt Nichols, also of PMG Suzuki, rounded out the podium after a late-race maneuver that saw him surpass Luke Clout.
Post-race, Quad Lock Honda Team Manager Yarrive Konsky addressed a controversial incident involving Anderson’s off-track excursion. “He pushed through the straight… It’s difficult to analyze,” Konsky noted, reflecting on perceptions surrounding whether Anderson’s actions cost him or Savatgy a position.
Race two highlighted Stark Future’s Jorge Zaragoza, who launched off the line with an electric-powered holeshot. Anderson quickly reclaimed the lead from Zaragoza, while Savatgy faced early setbacks, dropping to sixth after turn one chaos. Despite the initial struggles, Savatgy made a comeback, finishing third by overtaking Zaragoza when he faltered late in the race.
Meanwhile, Christian Craig faced another fall, which left him in ninth and 13 points behind heading into the decisive race. Craig’s title hopes hinged on a combination of his performance and Savatgy and Anderson’s missteps.
In the final race, Craig got off to a strong start, seizing the holeshot but lost the lead to Anderson and Savatgy shortly thereafter. The championship showdown intensified as Anderson and Savatgy exchanged positions fiercely for all twelve laps, showcasing aggressive racing that bordered on volatile without crossing into recklessness.
Ultimately, Anderson’s resilience and strategic racing solidified his position at the top, while Savatgy’s tenacity kept him in close contention, setting the stage for a riveting continuation of the championship battle.
