Christina Denney Appointed WMX Series Director as Women’s Motocross Championship Joins SMX League

Morgantown, W.Va. — On National Girls & Women in Sports Day, MX Sports Pro Racing has announced the appointment of Christina Denney as the new Series Director for the Women’s Motocross Championship Powered by Synchrony (WMX). This decision marks a pivotal moment as WMX prepares to integrate into the SuperMotocross League (SMX) starting with the 2026 season.

Denney, whose extensive experience in the motocross industry spans over a decade, has been instrumental in the revitalization of the WMX, having previously facilitated the series’ return alongside the Pro Motocross Championship last summer. This effort has contributed to significant growth in participation and visibility, culminating in the recent announcement at AIMExpo.

“Christina is a respected figure within the motocross community,” stated Carrie Coombs Russell, CEO of MX Sports Pro Racing. “Her dual expertise in both the business and competitive aspects of the sport positions her uniquely to lead and mentor our athletes effectively.”

Denney’s career trajectory includes co-founding Roost MX Graphics and serving as the first female team manager for Cycle Trader/Rock River Yamaha in 2009. Under her leadership, notable riders such as Kyle Chisholm and Colt Nichols advanced their careers. Denney also coordinates for the AMA U.S. Motocross Team and actively participates in the FIM Women’s Motocross Cup.

“I’m committed to creating an environment for women in motorsports to thrive,” Denney commented. “My previous experiences have equipped me to take on this challenge, and I’m excited to enrich the WMX community further.”

Denney’s contributions extend globally as she represents the AMA on the FIM Women’s Commission, aiming to enhance awareness and opportunities for women in motocross. This weekend, she will present on WMX’s growth at the FIM Commissions Conference in Lyon, France, highlighting its international appeal, especially after the success of talents like Australia’s Charli Cannon.

For the 2026 season, the WMX will feature six races, aligning with the Pro Motocross Championship schedule. The season kicks off at the Hangtown Motocross Classic in California (June 5-6) and includes events at Thunder Valley in Colorado, High Point in Pennsylvania, and concludes with the Ironman National Finals in Indiana (August 28-29).

Denney’s leadership signals a robust commitment to elevating the profile of female competitors in motocross, promising an impactful future for women’s racing within the SMX framework.
