Coty Schock Shifts to 450 Class for SMX Finale
In a strategic move ahead of the three-race SMX finale, Coty Schock will abandon his accumulated SMX points to compete in the 450 class, starting with a fresh slate of 450 points. This decision follows Schock’s experience racing full-time in the class during 2021, which is expected to provide a competitive edge in the upcoming events.
Team owner Brandon Haas praised Schock’s capabilities, stating, “Coty is the consummate team player. The power-to-weight ratio and his mature riding style will play to his advantage. Watching him on the 450 made it clear we had something special.” Haas emphasized the importance of Schock’s performance for team exposure and outlined the team’s goal to "start up front," a strategy they successfully executed in recent seasons.
Schock himself noted, “I really wanted to get back on the 450 at some point, and this feels like the right time. I’m confident I can deliver results.” He expressed gratitude for the team’s support and Yamaha’s involvement in the program: “They jumped in to support us as soon as we made the decision.”
The season’s first race at Pala is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2025, and will be broadcast on PeacockTV. With significant viewership growth anticipated, Schock’s debut in the 450 class promises to enhance the excitement of the motocross season. Keep an eye on the #37 bike as Schock aims to make a strong statement in his return to the premier class.
