AMA Supercross Report: Davies Secures Championship Lead in Thrilling Indianapolis Round

Indianapolis, IN — Cole Davies has emerged as a significant force in the 2026 AMA Supercross season, clinching victory at the Indianapolis round, marking his third win of the season. With this triumph, Davies has taken the championship lead for the first time in his career, reinforcing Yamaha’s dominance with eight wins in the first nine rounds of the series.

In historical context, the AMA Supercross series has seen 127 distinct winners in the 125/250SX classes. Yet, only 19 riders have managed to secure wins across the 125/250SX East, West, and Showdown events. Davies joins an exclusive group of just seven riders who have won in all categories, including the newly implemented East/West Showdown and Triple Crown events, which were introduced in 2018.

Davies’ Season Highlights:

  • Main Event Starts: 12
  • Single-Digit Finishes: 12 (with a best of eighth in his debut race)
  • Total Podiums: 6
  • Wins: 3 (encompassing one regular 250SX West win, one Showdown victory, and one East Triple Crown)

Davies is the fourth Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider to lead the points standings this season, indicating the team’s competitive depth in the 250SX category.

Looking ahead, the spotlight shifts to the Birmingham Supercross, where Davies will defend his lead against notable contenders, including Haiden Deegan and the 250SX West Division riders. The upcoming event promises to add further excitement to the championship race as the series progresses.
