Webb Earns Third at Arlington Supercross Amid Competitive Battles
ARLINGTON, TX – Cooper Webb, the three-time defending 450SX Champion, finished third at the Arlington Supercross after a heated and tactical race featuring aggressive maneuvers from rivals Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac. Webb, who initially secured the holeshot and led the opening laps, faced challenges as Roczen quickly overtook him, setting the stage for a fierce battle.
Throughout the race, Webb fought alongside Tomac and Roczen, battling for position with high stakes. A crucial moment occurred when Tomac’s aggressive pass forced Webb off track, temporarily dropping him to fourth. Despite this setback, Webb managed to reclaim his position, overtaking Roczen to secure the final spot on the podium.
Post-race, Webb reflected on the dynamics of the race, stating, “I think we just all knew whoever got Kenny first could break away and that was going to do the job and I think that’s what happened.” Webb acknowledged the challenge of managing aggressive racing while maintaining speed, noting key missteps that ultimately hindered his performance.
“Just cat-and-mouse,” Webb elaborated. “I made one really big mistake on the on-on-off, and that’s where Hunter got me. I should have made something happen earlier in the race.”
The victory went to Hunter Lawrence, who exhibited exceptional control, ultimately distancing himself from Roczen after a relentless fight for position.
In summary, the Arlington Supercross showcased intense competition among elite riders, with Webb demonstrating resilience and strategic insight, though falling short of his desired performance. The results reflect both the high stakes of the 450SX series and the evolving dynamics among leading competitors.
