Cooper Webb Faces Injury Setback Ahead of SMX Playoffs

Cooper Webb, the reigning Monster Energy Supercross champion and third-place contender in the 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship, has been placed on the injured reserve list following a knee injury sustained during qualifying at the RedBud National. The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider underwent a minor surgical procedure to repair a torn meniscus and is currently recuperating in Florida.

In an update, Webb shared, “Today was my first day back riding after getting my knee fixed. I got my meniscus fixed, and everything went smoothly.” The surgery involved internal stitches and cleaning of the knee, and Webb expressed optimism about his recovery, having rode for the first time just over four weeks post-operation.

Webb sits 114 points behind his teammate and championship leader Justin Cooper in the 450SMX standings. With the points resetting for the upcoming playoffs, Webb is strategically positioned to make a strong push for the title. "We’re right there in the mix,” he stated, acknowledging the challenge of returning from injury but remaining committed to preparation ahead of the SMX World Championship Playoff 1 at zMAX Dragway.

Reflecting on his injury, Webb commented, "It’s frustrating because it was an injury without crashing." He noted the duality of the situation, as it has allowed him more time with his family, yet highlighted the relentless effort required to return to form. "I’m all smiles and just happy," he concluded after his initial ride back.

As Webb gears up for the important upcoming rounds, the motocross community will be watching closely to see if he can leverage his experience and determination to reclaim a top position in this competitive season.
