Moto-X Pod Show Highlights Insightful Discussion with Cooper Webb
In the latest episode of the Moto-X Pod Show, hosted by Jamie "Darkside" Guida, Supercross champion Cooper Webb provided a candid analysis of the current motocross landscape and shared his experiences as he recovers from a torn meniscus. Also featured was Triumph’s Mikkel Haarup.
Webb’s assessment focused largely on the rising talent of Jett Lawrence, whom he praised as potentially the best rider in motocross history. "I just think he has it all," Webb remarked. "There’s no shortcuts; he’s putting in the time and effort. His attention to detail and staying away from distractions put him in an excellent spot." Webb emphasized Lawrence’s remarkable mental fortitude, stating, "He can handle a lot of pressure… to execute and put himself in those situations anytime he needs to takes a lot of mental capacity."
Addressing his own performance, Webb expressed challenges in the Pro Motocross season compared to his dominance in Supercross. "I really don’t know," he said when asked about the distinctions. Reflecting on his 250cc achievements, including a dominant performance at Millville in 2019, he acknowledged the impact of injuries on his outdoor career. "I think it’s just recently been from lack of seat time," he explained, noting that absence from competitive racing has dulled his edge. He remains optimistic about improving throughout the season, yet recognizes the challenges posed by inconsistent track time.
This conversation not only highlighted Webb’s admiration for Lawrence but also underlined the importance of regular competition in maintaining peak performance in motocross. As the season progresses, Webb is focused on reclaiming his form and contending at the top levels of the sport.
