MXoN Preview: Defending Champions and the Pursuit of the Chamberlain Cup
The 2023 Motocross of Nations (MXoN) at RedBud, Michigan, promises an intense showdown among 108 athletes representing six continents, all vying for the prestigious Chamberlain Cup. Australia enters as the defending champion, bolstered by their successful trio of Hunter Lawrence, Jett Lawrence, and Kyle Webster.
However, the United States, historically the most successful nation in MXoN history, poses a formidable challenge. The U.S. lineup features Haiden Deegan, Chase Sexton, and Eli Tomac, all seasoned champions. Their last appearance together in 2022 at RedBud resulted in a historic 23rd victory for the Americans. With the advantage of local support, they are eager to secure a 24th title.
Other strong contenders include the Netherlands, led by Glenn Coldenhoff, Calvin Vlaanderen, and Kay de Wolf; France, featuring Romain Febvre, Maxime Renaux, and Mathis Valin; and Germany, with Simon Lagenfelder, Ken Roczen, and Max Spies. Italy’s team, composed of Andrea Adamo, Andrea Bonacorsi, and legendary Antonio Cairoli, adds further depth to the competition.
Additionally, underdog nations such as Slovenia, with Tim Gajser; Switzerland’s Jeremy Seewer; Latvia, anchored by Pauls Jonass; and Belgium, represented by the Coenen brothers, could surprise the field with their emerging talent.
As the weekend unfolds, eyes will be on the established powers and the potential dark horses, all competing for motocross supremacy.
