Birmingham 250SX East/West Showdown: Injury Update and Race Insights

Birmingham, AL—In the latest round of the Supercross series, the Birmingham 250SX East/West Showdown saw Cullin Park from Phoenix Racing Honda suffer a significant setback. The rider dislocated his shoulder during the main event, leading to a disappointing DNF after just one lap.

Park had previously shown promise, achieving his best qualifying result of the season with a fifth in the initial session and finishing ninth in his heat race, securing a direct transfer to the main event. However, his race journey was abruptly halted in the whoops section when he lost control, resulting in the injury. Detailed evaluation of his condition is underway, but Park remains hopeful for a swift recovery.

Cullin Park’s Post-Race Remarks:
“I had a good day in Birmingham with my best qualifying result of the year so far. I came out ready to get into the fight early… but unfortunately, on lap one, the rear end kicked out. It ripped my foot off the peg and dislocated my shoulder before I even fully crashed. I want to give a big thank you to my team and hope to be back soon.”

Team Status:
The Phoenix Racing Honda team faced additional challenges, with Evan Ferry receiving a fine and penalties after a controversial incident involving Pierce Brown in the heat race, pushing his season total into the negatives. Gavin Towers was also sidelined due to a shoulder injury.

Park’s disconnect from the main event follows finishes of 9-8-9 in previous races this season, and despite the setback, his performance leading up to the injury demonstrates the potential for future competitiveness. Park expressed gratitude to his team and fans via social media, remained optimistic, and indicated plans to return stronger.

More updates on Park’s condition will be shared as they become available.
